I live in a land of 10 million souls
Â
It seethes and churns with 10 million woes
and every heart breaks from the load
of the weight of sorrow that none else knows
Â
O how can I be so dreadfully alone
with so many others within a throw of a stone
I hear their voices in an unending drone
With ears gone deaf from apathies grown.
Â
I thought myself a clever jewell
With witty words with which to duel
But found in the end I’m but a fool
A loathsome wretch upon mushroom stool
Â
I know not what brought me to this end
My inner strength blown with the windÂ
left cast adrift in my own sin
Wondering alas what might have been
Â
So shall I live by dawns new light?
Do I have the strength to stand and fight?
Or do I succumb to my mental blight
And stay forever in the endless night.
